Easter 2010

On our way to church today, Resurrection Day, I was talking to Karis about why we "celebrate" Easter. I said, "Do you know why we celebrate Easter, Karis?" She said, "Betuz da Easer Bunny tums and he hovs us," I said, "Close! The Easter Bunny loves us but do you know who loves us even more?" I could tell she was thinking really hard so I said, "Jesus! Jesus loves us so much more!" and then proceeded to explain the Easter story on a just-turned-3-year-old level. Sometimes I feel like what I'm putting into them is computing but I just keep reminding myself that I'm planting those seeds, watering those seeds and that those seeds are growing!

Today was very special for us. The girls looked so beautiful. So much so that I actually got choked up just watching them in their Easter best. I know, I'm weird. We may be a bit biased but we thought our girls were the most gorgeous kids at church today...tee hee.

In children's church Karis (and the other kids) created the Resurrection scene on construction paper. They glued 3 crosses, a tomb with the stone rolled away, and foam pieces cut out to make Jesus (white robe, brown hair and beard). It was precious.

When we got home it was rest/nap time (Karis cat-napped in the car but Shiloh went down as soon as we got home). I hid the eggs while the girls were resting so that when they woke up we could have our Easter Egg Hunt out in the front yard (the same yard me and my siblings and cousins had EEH's for years growing up). Here's some pictures:

Everytime Karis spotted an egg, she'd pretend she didn't see it and then tap her finger on her chin and say "Der must be a Easer Egg homwerr!" ("There must be an Easter egg somewhere") and then she'd gasp in surprise as she ran to get it! I think she got this from Max & Ruby but I'm not sure...regardless, it was adorable!

Even Shiloh loved looking for eggs!

Our Easter dinner was pretty low-key. Mom and Carrie were in NC to visit Carrie's friends and her college "stomping ground" and Eric and Gelsey usually go to Gelsey's mom's so we invited my Dad up for dinner. The girls had a blast with him. He even taught Karis how to peddle and steer her new Disney Princess bike) the one we got at the BFM for $15...sweeet). For dinner we had lasagna, garlic bread, ham, roasted brussel sprouts, and peas. Right after dinner I gave the girls a bath. Everything was fine until Shiloh decided to "make a deposit" right in the tub. I quick got the girls (and the toys) out and while Shiloh stood on the towel outside of the tub she fluffs twice and more comes out! Ew! Karis kept yelling, "Yoey pooped in da tub AND on da towel!" and started laughing. Shiloh just looked around not quite realizing what all the hoopla was about. I know this is all TMI but I just had to record it so I would remember this years from now. So we end on a good note, for dessert we had Mrs. Smith's Cherry Pie, yumm!
