Grown-ups are idiots

Well, not ALL grown-ups. There are some grown-ups that I am fond of and have respect for. Others, however, not so much. I'm only writing this down because 1) I need to vent and get it off my chest before I explode and 2) this is MY blog that no one else is allowed to read so I can say what I want!

Last night we went to Kenny's mom's house to visit. We hadn't seen them in awhile because every time we planned a visit someone got sick. This went on for weeks. Anyway, so we're over there last night and they got pizza and wings for us which was nice and when we were done dinner we all went out in the living room. The girls played with either Bub or Grammy. Okay, let me stop right here. Their definition of "play" compared to the NORMAL definition of play is ridiculously inaccurate. From the time both girls were born the way they "played" with them was to take away whatever toy the girls had in their hand at the time and start playing with it themselves. Really?! You're how old and you can't just get involved with whatever THEY are doing and allow THEM to lead you in play? Ugh. Whatever.

First I have to say that it doesn't take a genius to see the difference in my girls. Shiloh is more of an extrovert and Karis is more of an introvert. Shiloh jumps into something without thinking or caring about any possible consequences whereas Karis is more cautious and wants to make sure something is okay before taking the leap.

Okay back to last night. So after dinner Shiloh gets her second (or possibly third) wind of the evening and while we're all out in the living room she starts running from one end of the house to the other. Screaming, laughing, Kenny's pretending to get her and all kinds of craziness. This went on for literally 20 minutes and Bub and Debbie were all laughing hysterically at her the entire time. Shiloh finally calms down and is doing something quiet when Karis starts to run around, laughing and just enjoying herself. "Shiloh just got done being crazy so surely it's okay for me to do it." No more than 60 seconds later both Bub AND Debbie say something like, "Ooh no, stop running, you're gonna get hurt." WHAT?!?!?!?! ARE YOU F***ING SERIOUS?!?!?! So poor Karis just stops and has this look of defeat on her face. Talk about idiot grown-ups sending an already cautious child mixed messages.

Not only am I upset that Karis was hurt and not treated with the same fairness as her sister but I am upset with myself for not speaking up and defending her right then and there. Stupid me didn't think of it until the ride home. Well, never again. Next time anyone shows any kind of unfairness to either of my kids (but especially Karis) they're gonna get a tongue-lashing! Grow up grown-ups! Buy a friggin' clue!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
